Getting Back To It

The boys are still not 100% well but they seem more inclined to sit and work so it's working in my favour.  :) Much better than one bouncing on the trampoline stuffing his face along with it and the other haring up and down the garden on his scooter all while I try and explain things to them.

They got up late, not so much cos they are under par but cos last night we had some bad storms here and the windows and floors were rattling with the wind. It kept them awake for hours. I dread to think what it would be like with the old Victorian windows in.  I don't know how people survived here with no central heating, single glazed sash windows and no carpets. They were obviously harder than me.

Anyway D has started his English today.  I have a range of  things from Teacher Created Resources which we can use.  The idea is he never gets bored of one thing so we have enough different types of work to have a change. He asked for Paired passages and Document Based Critical Thinking and we also have From Sentences to Paragraphs, Grammar Grade 5-6 and Scientific comprehension. I also bought a thematic unit on the Mayans as its something we touched on last year but didn't do much about.

We are still doing The Cold War and Ancient Mesopotamia and we have started Environmental science using this book.

B is also reading this Mesopotamia fiction book and I got the literature study free from Teacher Vision

We have lapbooks in various stages. The Cold War one is finished and B is doing two on Mesopotamia and Gods of Sumer.  We've started an ecosystem one and one on the earth. We have Alaska on the go as a unit study not lapbook and The Great lakes.  All I need now is to shift this illness and we will be well away.

I started making this before I got ill and finished it last night.  It's already cheered up the abandoned cat. I am making all of them one each for their baskets.  Only 5 left to go. It's a good way to use up off cuts.
